My weekend adventure started on the Thursday night before I was scheduled to leave the next morning.  I was looking forward to having a relaxing weekend of camping and wheeling. I had been experiencing a strange vibration in the Rover for a few days which seemed like a wheel shimmy. On the way home from dinner it got pretty bad and by the time I pulled into my driveway a loud hiss and steam pouring out from under the hood directed me to the problem.

The vibration had caused the cooling hose to rub on the alternator and slice a nice gash through the rubber. I grabbed a hose of the '88 and the next morning pulled the plugs. I had an inkling about a certain cylinder and sure enough the plug was blown to bits. There were many reasons I could think of for this to happen but I always fear the worst (ie:most expensive). I woke up early the next morning and swung by Cerrones for some advise. After replacing the plug the old girl ran much smoother.

Safe at camp, Dan kicks back.

We set up camp and sang a few pirate jigs while waiting for Eric and Alan to arrive at they're expected 11pm arrival. Several phone calls confirmed that they were lost and on they wrong trail (no, you shouldn't be getting pin-striped by bushes on the correct trail). Apparently they had followed the GPS routing which seemed to have preferred the single track motorcycle run. They back tracked back to town for more gas and a better plan and eventually found camp at 1am. Eric's emergency flasher were going off for no reason and he finally figured out the secret combination of tricks to get the mysterious blinking to stop. I guess it is a "Disco" and needs a thumping beat and flashing lights to feel happy.

'89 ready to go.

I picked up Sam and we ventured forth with Rovie showing no signs of weirdness. We expected to be there earlier but traffic and a little misrouting dictated otherwise. Nightfall came and we entered Cow Mt. with lights blazing. My gal always mocks me for installing such items to which I reply "You never know when you may need them". Well we needed them this day and they served they're purpose.

After bumping and rocking in the dark and several calls to Tiger Dan to make sure we were on the right trails, we finally pulled into camp at 10pm, a few hours late from our expected 6pm arrival.
