The next morning we all woke up and after many cups of camp stove percolator coffee we were ready to see what Cow Mountain had to offer. Robb showed up right on time in the Series III and we ventured into the dust and dust and more dust.

We trekked through some beautiful country side lead by Dan and his 91 classic. Since Sam and I were bringing up the rear it was a wall of white dust for most of the ride.

Driving the dusty trails

We left the area to follow Dan when he said he had a problem. Not a small problem mind you, lets call it a medium problem. Some how he plowed  into something and bent the rear left trailing arm.

Eric lent a hand with a large pipe and the Tiger went ferociously after the arm of the Rover until it was in a somewhat working condition.

We scurried out to the gates of camp and made a plan to fix, gas up and re-supply in Lakeport

Robbs RHD Series III

The caravan roamed on and finally we made our way to the obstacle course. Robb almost rolled backwards while demonstrating his steep climb wheelie ability at which point I opted for the shallower route.

After hanging around the obstacle course where the Mendocino rock crawler club had assembled, I noticed a lot of big overbuilt trucks and nobody actually doing anything with them. Probably a good thing because every time we did see someone get in and drive one, something stupid happened or something got broken. Within the 30 minutes we spent there, we watched a guy back a Ford pickup off the trailer with no ramps and slam both the rear prop shaft and the front bumper on the steel trailer and a Rock crawler break something, stopping his rear drive, by slamming it repeatedly into large concrete stairs at full throttle.
